Chris Forbes
A property industry professional of over 25 years with diversified experience across construction, development, asset/portfolio management and fund management disciplines. Early experience in construction and project management, coupled with over 15 years as an investment manager across a range of asset classes, has created a well-rounded portfolio of experience encompassing the management of a variety of people, investment strategies and direct real estate assets across Australia.
Before co-founding RidgeCap Investment Management in 2023, Chris was the Head of Real Estate for Challenger Group, leading a team of 40+ real estate professionals managing over A$5 billion of assets across Australia and Japan. Prior to that he was Head of Funds Management for LaSalle Investment Management and spent 10 years with Charter Hall as inaugural Fund Manager of the Charter Hall Prime Office Fund. Over this time Chris has managed over $10 billion of commercial assets across Australia.
Chris is a passionate real professional who brings experience, acumen and integrity to deliver high quality, risk adjusted outcomes for our clients, partners and investors.

Matt Whitby
Matt is a highly experienced senior management executive with 25+ years’ experience in the real estate sector, funds management, and financial markets. After more than 20 years in the corporate sector, Matt co-founded RidgeCap Investment Management (formerly Mawson Capital – rebranded), a private real estate advisory and investment management platform, to assist high net worth individuals, family offices, private equity firms, and select institutional clients optimize their real estate investments.
Matt has a strong track record in real estate origination, investment management, and strategy, as well as a broad network of senior management executives in real estate, finance, investment banking, media and sporting organisations.
In an advisory capacity, Matt provides strategic advice to investors, developers, occupiers, and private clients to assisting them in making informed decisions, specialising in property acquisition/disposal analysis, site identification, occupier representation, benchmarking, leasing / sales analysis and asset maximisation.
